How love lives on after loss

On days when the wind blows the hardest,
I recall the ones who
have already parted

I hear their voices hanging in the air, laughter rippling through time
and space without a care

I try to figure out what’s left of them
and what was left to me
more than long legs and a
language I can no longer speak

a trauma tinted glare
in their eyes
all of the love they shared
in their eyes
all of the hurt they spared

could it be that so much of it
was for them,
could it be that so much of it
was for me

so I could go on
and carry weights that have only grown heavier as they were passed down

shoulder after shoulder
stories told over and older

could it be that it was up to them
could it be that it is up to me

I still record moments in their life in my diary, as if they’re my own

because one day it may be nice for someone to know

that on days when the wind blows the hardest,
I recall the ones who have already parted

Poem by me – listen to the spoken word version on my IG here.

I hope this moves something within you, as the music did within me. 🌿 If it does, let me know below…it means a lot.

For me, it’s a reflection of how those we lose live on in us in one way or another. 🤍

Mountains' Daughter acknowledges that we reside

I offer my utmost gratitude & respect to the first peoples of the area.
May we return to living in balance with our Mother once again.
